Notre devise : Il faut cultiver notre jardin.

Notre vignoble et nos vignes sont situés sur des terres plus rocheuses de la région de Shefford. Comme le schiste, l'ardoise verte et noire et le grès se retrouvent parmi nos vignes, nos terres rocheuses donnent à nos raisins une saveur unique. Nous souhaitons honorer la richesse et la typicité de notre terroir dans chacun de nos vins.

Nos pratiques et notre expertise sont faites dans le respect de l’environnement. Sur notre domaine, nous cultivons nos vignes selon une intervention minimaliste : nous favorisons lorsque possible les interventions manuelles sans pulvériser nos vignes. La qualité supérieure de nos fruits peut ainsi être à l’honneur en étant le point focal de nos vins.

Dans la cave, nos produits sont d’ailleurs choisis avec autant de soin. Nous sélectionnons nos levures pour en assurer la meilleure concordance avec notre terroir et l’authenticité de nos raisins.

Étant une entreprise familiale, il nous est d’autant plus important de respecter notre milieu, pour le futur de notre communauté. Cette valeur centrale qui est gage de qualité nous accompagne à chaque étape de production de nos vins, de notre terre à votre table.

Our vineyard and our vines are located on the feet of Mount Shefford, which is one of the Monteregian Hills situated within the Great Meteor hotspot. Our soils are most certainly on the rocky side, with shards of schist, green slate and black slate interspersed by the impenetrable hornfels of our Canadian Shield foundation.

Not so very long ago, our vineyard lands were covered by boulders and their fragments - broken by the persistent effort of ancestral maple and oak trees to set down roots. After the trees did the tough work, humans moved in and cleared farm land, initially for cattle grazing and later for vines. We are honoured to be stewards of this magnificent land, and we endeavor to make wines that might whisper (or, for the orange wine, shout) words of the profound truths of our ever-evolving story.

Our practices and our expertise are oriented to respect the environment in which we find our selves. Accordingly, we cultivate our vines with minimalist intervention : we prioritize use of manual intervention while maintaining sight of our perpetual goal — cultivating an environment wherein our vines will have the best possible chance of success. After all, only the vines can perform the annual miracle of bearing fruit. We can just try to help.

In our wine cellar, our products are carefully chosen to draw-out a harmonious expression of the unique notes of our grapes’ natural voices. This is particularly important in the selection of yeasts, as they are themselves living organisms. We invest conscientious attention in the selection of our yeasts, ensuring that they accord with the character of the fruit before making a formal introduction — which, we pray, will result in the successful birth of beautiful wines.

As a family-run business, we are conscious of leaving our community and our environment in a better state than we find it — always and in all ways thinking of the future. Ideas for how we can help? La Belle Alliance, située juste au sud de Waterloo au Québec, tire son nom de la ferme belge à partir de laquelle Napoléon mena sa campagne à la bataille de Waterloo. On est maintenant une petite cave boutique sise à Shefford et centrée sur les vins artisanaux de haute qualité. Nous sommes une entreprise familiale qui travaille du champ à la bouteille a fin de présenter des produits dynamiques et régionaux avec des histoires à raconter. Notre philosophie d'intervention minimaliste et notre préférence pour les techniques viticoles en climat froid sont conçues pour garder votre verre plein du caractère de notre belle région des Cantons de l'Est au Québec.

Passionnée de l'histoire napoléonienne, notre famille avait prévu faire un voyage en Belgique à l'occasion du bicentenaire de la célèbre bataille de Waterloo. Suite à la découverte de cette belle propriété au Québec (Canada), nos plans ont changé. Après un court voyage vers la propriété, au début du printemps 2015, nous avons rapidement décidé de laisser tomber nos plans de voyage, d'abandonner notre emploi en Alberta et de suivre notre cœur, qui nous mena aux Cantons de l'Est. Nous nous sommes finalement retrouvés près de Waterloo pour le bicentenaire historique... Par contre, il ne s'agissait pas du même Waterloo que prévu. La suite, « appartient à l'histoire ».

La Belle Alliance takes its name from the Belgian farmhouse from which Napoleon waged his campaign in the Battle of Waterloo, and it is located just south of Waterloo, Québec. Now, La Belle Alliance is a small boutique winery in Shefford centred on artisan wines of a high quality. We are a family enterprise that works from field to bottle to present regional and dynamic products that have stories to tell. Our minimalist intervention philosophy and embrace of cold-climate viticulture intends to keep your glass full of the charm and the character of our beautiful region of the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

Being fans of Napoleonic history, we had planned to make a family trip to Belgium to mark the bicentenary of the famous Battle of Waterloo.  We changed our plans, however, after serendipitously discovering this beautiful property in Québec, Canada.  After one look at what would become our future home, we quickly decided to cancel any travel plans, take a step back from our jobs in Alberta, and follow our hearts to the Eastern Townships.  So we did end up near Waterloo for the historic bicentenary after all - just a different one than we expected.  The rest, as they say, is history.
